Cycling for ten days in southern Transylvania in July this year was one of the best holiday choices of my life. The terrain can range from flat to a 6,000 ft climb, spectacular hills around you and wildflowers like I’ve never seen them. Brits have a view of poverty stricken Romania. Don’t believe it. I don’t know what people are earning, but it feels and looks like a cheap Austria (with a few more holes in the road!).
Much of the pleasure of the holiday came from Adventure Transylvania and our guide. He planned ideal routes to fit what we wanted and the places we stayed were excellent for our budget. He was endlessly helpful. Perfect English and an alarming knowledge of Romania were pretty useful.

I have been to 95 countries now and I can’t remember one that I enjoyed more than Romania–mostly because of your excellent guidance.
We took the Complete Tour of Romania in October 2010 and loved every minute of it. The tour was extremely well-organised. the accommodation and restaurants always first class and, with the small number in our group, we had a flexible itinerary. Emil our guide was very knowledgeable and had a wonderful sense of humour. He was always helpful and considerate which meant we didn’t have to worry about anything. We certainly recommend this comprehensive and enjoyable tour for those who want a comfortable yet adventurous holiday.
Fantastic experience! Everyone should see Romania from a bicycle. Dan was a great host very accommodating and knowledgeable. The food was great and plentiful. I’m looking forward to trying some of the other tours.
What a fantastic vacation! The housing, food, schedule, and the atmosphere of quaint Romanian villages made this a vacation to remember. The hikes were varied, fun, and filled with lots of interesting and historical sights. Horia and Nicole are some of the best guides/hosts anywhere, as well as being wonderful people! I will be back again and advise my friends of this truly unique vacation opportunity!
This year our buddy hiking trip was to Romania, and we are happy we chose Adventure Transylvania. Dan was a great guide, taking us through trails in the Transylvanian national parks that we would never have found. Dan and all the people were warm, helpful, and always friendly. Highly recommended!

‘In May 2008, I and two friends from Los Angles arranged a 12 day guided hiking tour of Romania. Our guide, Horia Matei, was superb. He was reserved and knowledgeable and easy, likeable company for the many, many hours we all spent together in meals, car trips and hiking. ‘I had the best time! Country is beautiful, autumn a wonderful time to go, all the trees in living color, the appropriate (to Halloween) cloud cover, cool, not cold, perfection. Horia was the most accommodating guide we could have wished for……for over 13 hours a day!!! Very attentive to our individual preferences for food, etc. And very knowledgeable of the history and geography of Romania and surrounding countries. (more…)
‘Our hiking tour in September was everything we hoped it would be. The scenery was varied and breathtaking and when the weather was not suitable for hiking, we toured the castles. Romania is a very beautiful country to explore by bike …. a real beautiful country side, many beautiful towns, very rich culture, good hotels, the Romanians show real hospitality ! In August 2007 we did the Free Ride Mountain Bike Tour, the experience was great. If you like Mountain Bike riding you must go to Rumania with ADVENTURE TRANSYLVANIA. We are a group of 6 Mountain Bike riders that every year go around the world for Mountain Bike Riding. This trip has been one of our best, specially the days we went to the Bucegi Mountains and the Fundata Pass. (more…)
‘Olimme kesällä 2007 toista viikkkoa Romaniassa ja voin todella suositella. Kaikki sujui juuri niin kuin oli sovittu ja oikeastaan vähän paremminkin. Ilmoitimme toimistolle koska olemme tulossa ja millaista matkaa olimme ajatelleet ja heiltä tuli sitten ehdotus. Matkaamme kuului muutama vaelluspäivä ja lisäksi tutustumista Romaniaan. ‘Our experience with Adventure Transylvania and the country Romania was so great. First off all, the great care from Horia, was Super ! Nothing was to much and he made the trip something we will never forget ! We saw beautifull places and we can recommend it to all .We loved all places we visited but very special were the castle in Rasnov, a beautifyll place to be. Also the Sambata monastery at the foothills of the Fagaras mountains, Hunedoara and its Castle were places you have to see. We loved it ! (more…)
Visiting Romania is an incredibly interesting and rewarding experience. We had a fantastic time on our “Transylvanian Adventure” tour last September. This tour is a great way to get an inside look at Romanian country life. We would never have found the beautiful region around Moeciu if we had traveled on our own. (more…)
If I had one piece of advice to give it would be to not pass up this experience. Often people venture into Eastern Europe but write off Romania because there is not a lot of information out there. In visiting this country you can see how life in Eastern Europe, and the whole of the world, once was. The shipyards still walk with their sheep and the cattle roam free. (more…)

It was a real suprise to find so good arranged week in Romanian mountains which I had in beginning of June. Horia is really a quide who love his country and his work.
Of course I would like to hike little more but Horia made things one degree more difficult to lead us down from the mountains direct through bushes. Good idea!! Clean air! Scenery views! Lot of flowers. Silence! This I really can recommend tio everyone who love nature!’
