Adventures in Transylvania – Robin and Matthias

September 29, 2006

Visiting Romania is an incredibly interesting and rewarding experience.  We had a fantastic time on our “Transylvanian Adventure” tour last September.  This tour is a great way to get an inside look at Romanian country life.  We would never have found the beautiful region around Moeciu if we had traveled on our own.

It was located in a stunning valley of steep green hills and quaint cottages where farmer’’s practices have not changed in hundreds of years.  Exploring the area is like stepping backwards in time, the region is still untouched by major tourism.

Horia was our friendly and knowledgeable guide who was amazingly resourceful when inevitable travel snags arose. We especially enjoyed the gorgeous hiking, biking and horse-riding in the mountains and the medieaval sightseeing.  Horia’’s skills proved indispensable as he navigated difficult roads utilized by all types of vehicles including horse-drawn carriages. After our tour he sent us on our way only after helping us to decipher the train network and recommending accommodations in other regions of Romania
