Ann, ‘Hiking with a guide in Romania’

‘In May 2008, I and two friends from Los Angles arranged a 12 day guided hiking tour of Romania. Our guide, Horia Matei, was superb. He was reserved and knowledgeable and easy, likeable company for the many, many hours we all spent together in meals, car trips and hiking. We are all experienced hikers, but NOTHING prepared us for the exhilarating, beautiful and challenging hikes.
Many days found us climbing many thousands of feet, treking through snow and forests, and then coming down, down, down on daunting trails on wildflower and stone covered slopes to end our days in the comfort of a beautiful hotel with a good meal. This was easily one of the very best trips of my life. I recommend it to anyone. And I know that they can choose hikes to suite anyone’’s capabilities, so there is no worry that hikes will be too easy….or too difficult
